Negative thoughts

Short poses on Wednesday were all done with the board on the ground with long canes and an oil pastel on A2. Two 5 minutes, a three and a two (last one is with the left hand).

Long pose was supposed to concentrate on negative spaces. Some odd shapes. Charcoal and charcoal pencil.

Look no hands

Just two poses on Tuesday, both 50 minutes. I tried to do a triangle composition for both with the head and hands though I didn't even manage to fit the hands on for the first. Charcoal then coloured pencil.

Looking for abstraction

.. but not finding it. Two paintings I'm working on that are far too representational. Both 24"x20" in acrylic.

On the fiddle

We were drawing a violinist violining on Tuesday. First though some quick poses. Five minutes each in conte pencil on A2.

Then a longer static pose with the violin. 20 minutes.

Then on to the moving poses. This one for 10 minutes in total.

Finally two 20 minute poses in coloured pencil.

Now in 3D

First some flat drawings. Two 10 minute and two 5 minute drawings in charcoal pencil. Legs are too long.

Long pose 1 hour in charcoal

Then on Thursday sculpture sessions resumed after a 4 term hiatus. About 2 hours so far on a 6 hour pose.

Spinning around

We were playing musical easels on Tuesday. This is eight 10 minute drawings in pencil on A2.

First session of the year - portrait

First session of 2015 was a portrait session. First 2 hours pencil on A2:

Then 2 hours in acrylic on 14"x11" with 30 minutes later tweaking (mostly making mistakes as the attempt to highlight the right side of the face has actually made it darker). The position of the mouth and the gap between the eyes is much better on this than the drawing.
